gift bag: things we love august 2021

Masks for kids to colour in and wear, something to help anxious littlies, cool DIY light fittings and more – these are the things the BYY team loves this month… and we know you will too.

Worry Gobblers

It can be tricky to know how to help an anxious child manage their feelings, which is why Linda Jackson started making Worry Gobblers: gorgeous little monsters that are designed to eat your child’s worries. Just ask them to write down – or draw – what’s bothering them then unzip the Gobbler’s mouth and watch as they ‘eat’ the worry.

We love this product for kids – but we’re pretty sure it will work just as well for anxious adults. To order your Worry Gobbler email Linda Jackson on or WhatsApp 082 904 0016. You can follow Worry Gobblers on Instagram and Facebook. Gobblers cost from R300, excluding delivery and come in six different styles.

Colour Me Masks

If your kids are guilty of the ‘Mom… I’m bored’ whine (you know what we’re talking about) then here’s a – admittedly temporary – solution to the problem: masks they can colour in then wear. They’re made from sturdy cardboard, come with colourful ribbon to tie them on with and are available in butterfly, superhero, dragon versions and more. We suggest buying a bunch of these and keeping them on hand for a rainy day. From R40 a mask from Mighty Small Kids.
