Few things are as exciting – or nerve-racking – as deciding on a name for your little one, and that’s before you take into consideration that everyone has an opinion. To make your life a little easier, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 predicted baby names for boys and girls for 2021.
Baby name trends to watch out for in 2021:
Foreign flora and fauna:
Floral names were a hit this year, but are expected to be even bigger in 2021 – watch out for floral-inspired names like Zahra (Arabic for ‘flower’), Parna (Gujarati for ‘leaf’) and Latica (Croatian for ‘petal’), which will likely jump up the baby-naming charts.
Jewels and gemstones:Â
Again a trend we saw in 2020 but 2021’s jewel-inspired names will have a bit of foreign flair. So while names like Garnet, Onyx and Ruby are already popular choices, next year might see Hirkani (Sanskrit for ‘like a diamond’), Poho (Hawaiian for ‘gemstone’) or Margaret (Greek for ‘pearl’) rise up the baby-naming charts.
Vintage and traditional names:Â
This trend has been around for a while and it’s going to continue to be popular for the next couple of years. Expect to meet quite a few little ones with classic names like Eleanor, Felicity, Gabriel and Ralph in 2021.
