Hosting a dinner party? Who wants to spend the whole day in the kitchen cooking? Instead, whip up this quick and easy trifle that’s both salty and sweet.

You will need:
1 cup salted peanuts
1 cup caster sugar
1/4 cup water
250g cream cheese, softened
½ cup icing sugar, sifted
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
½ cup cream, whipped
300g store-bought chocolate muffins (no icing), chunked
1 cup chocolate sauce
100g pretzels, roughly broken

How to make the salted peanut butter trifle
1 Spray an oven tray with olive oil. Spread peanuts over the tray.
2 In a medium saucepan, heat sugar and water on medium, stirring until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high and boil without stirring until deep-caramel in colour. Pour peanuts over, set aside to cool. Break into pieces.
3 Using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese and icing sugar together until smooth. Add peanut butter, beat to combine. Fold cream through.
4 When ready to serve, divide muffins between six serving glasses. Top with peanut cream, drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with pretzels and praline to serve.
