How to spoil Dad this June

It’s been notably said that a dad is a daughter’s first love and a son’s very first best friend. Most times life gets so busy that the focus is put on moms and babes, and sometimes the most important person around gets a little lost in the crowd – dad.

For me personally, my dad is my hero. I am unashamedly a daddy’s girl. He is the compass who guides me, steers me with his character and integrity, changes my course if I need it, lifts me up when I fall, celebrates my successes and is the standard that any man I marry has to meet.

So, with June not only being Men’s Health Month but also the month we celebrate Father’s Day, I’ve put together a few ideas for you on how to pamper and spoil dad and show him the love he deserves.

Treat him to a delicious breakfast in bed – not only moms appreciate this. This is such a wonderful way to spoil dad, or your significant other. If you have kids, it’s also a great way to get them involved and let them feel like they’re making dad’s day important and special. Let them help mix the batter for the pancakes, pour the batter into the pan (with adult supervision, of course) or make special cards for the food tray.

Family pictures are another way to not just celebrate dad, but bond as a family. What better way to look back and have sweet memories than to have some gorgeous pictures taken? Then put a few in frames or an album for dad’s office – he will cherish these and love showing them off.

“Sometimes we forget just how hard dads and husbands work to give us everything we need so that we don’t want for anything.”

Let your SO (significant other) sleep in as long as he wants. Sometimes we forget just how hard dads and husbands work to give us everything we need so that we don’t want for anything. That definitely qualifies him for more than one sleep-in coupon. He deserves it.

Plan a special date night! Moms and dads need to remember that before they held those titles, they were boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife. It’s so important to keep that connection and planning a special date night with dinner, some dancing and even an overnight stay at a hotel with breakfast in the morning is the most wonderful treat for a couple, especially those with kids. It’s a time to reconnect and love on each other.

Men’s health is so important, and dads and husbands need to make sure they always look after themselves. Pamper him with a massage or a spa day. He will love you for this one. If he loves gym and working out, there are so many awesome fitness gadgets on the market to fit every budget. These little armbands track heart rate, steps, fitness goals – every man will love getting one of these. While you’re at it, encourage him to book his yearly physical.

Going on a hike as a family is also a fabulous bonding experience, and doing something he loves. To make it even more special, remember to pack a picnic basket full of his favourites and, after your hike, relax as a family on a blanket and enjoy the view.

I always love to say “some people don’t believe in heroes, but they haven’t met my dad”, and I’m sure this is true for all of you and your special dads. After all, anyone can be a father, but it takes something special to be a dad. I hope these tips give you the inspiration you need to spoil the man in your life this June, because he deserves it!
