The tapping procedure is designed to bring the highlighted areas to the attention of the body and to stimulate the self-healing process. Commonly felt sensations during a BodyTalk session include: feelings of warmth or coldness, calmness and relaxation, a sudden need to express emotions or abdominal gurgling as energy is released from the diaphragm.

At the end of each session, the practitioner uses muscle testing to determine the optimum date for the follow-up session.
