Pose the question to people “How do you really feel?” and you’re bound to receive a flurry of replies, such as “I am always tired. I am so stressed. I am in pain. I can’t sleep at night.” Sound familiar? If so, there is a relatively new, complementary healing modality that may well be your missing link. Unlike western medicine which focuses on symptoms, this modality works to re-align the body and mind affecting a greater flow within the system.
In this way, healing can occur.
BodyTalk uses the innate intelligence within the body to ascertain where the blocks are within the person. It is this collective human experience which one is tapping into during BodyTalk sessions, releasing unexpressed emotions, unprocessed traumas, negative belief systems and stress.
As opposed to being offered symptomatic relief, BodyTalk involves an intricate unravelling of what lies beneath the surface of a person ‒ the thoughts, feelings, and subconscious interplay that all contribute to a state of health or disease. Each session gently heals the day’s ‘script’. For founder John Veltheim, BodyTalk offered much-needed healing for his own medical conditions. Referred to as a whole healthcare system, no aspect of the human experience is overlooked – be it physical, emotional, mental or environmental.
Let’s consider this: unexpressed overwhelming feelings be they rage, sadness, guilt, fear or disappointment create distress and disease. Some may consult a psychologist, but talk therapy is not necessarily the panacea. BodyTalking your way to health offers a healing alternative in which people move from a place of stagnation to generation and vitality. Like a river that over time collect debris which impedes its natural flow, so does the body, the result being compromised functioning on all levels, where health and vitality seem elusive.
“Referred to as a whole healthcare system, no aspect of the human experience is overlooked – be it physical, emotional, mental or environmental.”
Kate was despondent about her constant tiredness, sleep issues and gastrointestinal woes. Tired of listening to her friend’s daily complaints, a friend suggested she try BodyTalk. “After just one session my sleep improved and I was less tired. My gastro-intestinal issues were no longer so acute. BodyTalk became my healing lifeline. I continued with a few more sessions, after which all my daily niggles disappeared. For the first time in years, I felt healthy and vital. Friends remarked that I exuded noticeable joie de vivre.”
“Besides its healing benefit, BodyTalk sessions take one on a fascinating journey of self-discovery,” affirms David, who turned to BodyTalk for his consistent back pain. “I so enjoyed what the sessions revealed about my ‘inner world’, some of which I had forgotten about. Clearly, the highlighted issues were contributing to my relentless back pain. The sessions always resonated with me. But more importantly, after each session I felt lighter with an enhanced sense of well-being. Even the way I reacted to certain situations seemed different. After just six sessions, my back pain was no longer part of my life! I felt liberated for this first time in years!”
BodyTalk is a completely safe, gentle modality that can be done on anyone – from newborns to the elderly – and can be used as an adjunct to other treatments. The kinds of conditions for which people consult a BodyTalk practitioner include:
- Chronic pain
- Trauma and anxiety
- Constant infections
- Behavioural difficulties
- Problems in children
- Digestive problems
- Repetitive life patterns
- Sleep issues
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Sports injuries, etc.
What do most of these conditions have in common?
All are associated with loss and a change in one’s worldview: loss of bodily trust and reliance, loss of control and freedom, loss of the taken for granted and loss of lifestyle which has contributed to a meaningful and secure world relationship. For those struggling to express this, whole healthcare can be a welcoming alternative.
So, what does a session entail?
Clients lie on a massage table. The practitioner uses a form of muscle testing, while following a specific map of the body-mind to determine how to restore the delicate balance. To perform the necessary balances, the practitioner gently taps across both hemispheres of the brain, on the heart and over the abdomen. The tapping procedure is designed to bring the highlighted areas to the attention of the body and to stimulate the self-healing process. In addition, the client gains awareness of the underlying issues.
Commonly felt sensations during a BodyTalk session include: feelings of warmth or coldness, calmness and relaxation, a sudden need to express emotions or abdominal gurgling as energy is released from the diaphragm.
At the end of each session, the practitioner uses muscle testing to determine the optimum date for the follow-up session.
The whole healthcare paradigm for the future of medicine is where we work with the innate knowledge of the body and could be your link to optimum health.
